Best New Music Alert: Massive Attack, Built to Spill, & Gossip!

•October 7, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Three great new albums fresh off the music tree!

My favorite trip-hoppers Massive Attack are back after three years with a new 4-song EP called “Splitting the Atom“. Quintessential dark and broody with choice special guests including Martina Topley Bird and TV on the Radio‘s Tunde Adebimpe. Look for their fifth full-length album out this Fall.

Creepy title track “Splitting the Atom” —

PS. Love the album cover!ma

Built to Spill, one of my all-time favorite indie bands, is back with “There Is No Enemy“. Doug Martsch’s voice just soothes me!

Gossip‘s “Music for Men” is dance-punk goodness! Yummy mix of rock and dance and classic raw Beth Ditto, even gospelly at times! A Rick Rubin production.

One of my favorite tracks “Heavy Cross” calls to mind Stevie Nicks and is a great track to get angry to. Raw and wonderful.
